DeeZire is probably one of the, if not the most famous mod out there in
the RA2/YR community. Famed for taking all the bits that Westwood left
out and putting them back, as well as giving each individual country its
own advantages and disadvantages (that again, Westwood left out). The
AI too has had massive revamps. With the DeeVious (...) AI on Brutal,
there's actually a small challenge.
Another interesting touch is the CrateGoodie units, which give a cool
blast from the past with the ability to grab TS or RA1 units. They also
bring back the Bad Crates (such as blowing up your troops, or on YR, a
Brute appears and starts trashing everything). Other bits include the
graphical touches and alterations, from the ChronoSphere 'beam' to the
Radiation Splash.
However, DeeZire has the odd poor point. In 1.80, although the multiple-support
Assault game type is included, it seems that either DeeZire has run out
of hidden features to put back, or he's trying to add a couple of his
own ideas. There'd be no problems in this, except that a couple of the
ideas degrade the game a little. There are some balance issues now, such
as the Berzerk clouds never vanishing. It seems like a glitch or a bug,
but it isn't (bad vibes, people...). Although there is the odd bug, such
as the AI somehow managing to complete production of an Apocalypse after
I have destroyed its Battle Lab. It didn't make any more, but the order
should have been cancelled on the Lab's destruction.
Even so, there aren't many of these issues, so don't be put off downloading
this superb mod, that DeeZire has even got to the stage of dual compatibility
through 1 installer. The mod will provide a challenge, and a helluva lot
of fun as well. We approve.
