Red Generals has been started up again by Phonic/Tratos. The mod had become inactive due to Tratos being unable to continue development work on it as he was at university, but it is now back in a fast development state.
Below is a screenshot of the Chinese Power Plant, which was recently added to the mod:

Article - Good game Portugal + Novus Ordo - Posted on 24 Jun 2004 by Natus |
|
|
You played a good game mates, and were knocked out of fair and square. Yeah, that WOULD be if referee werent blind and a moron. Congratulations, you won via a crap ref.
On modding news, I am making this a plug for Clazzys new mod for Tiberian Sun, Novus Ordo. Development on it is going exceedingly well, and its forming up to be a 1st class mod. Also got some concept ideas floating round.
[QUOTE]In the late 2050's, a devastating war sprung forth between humankind. 15 years later, almost 1.5 billion people were dead and a harsh rule was imposed across the majority of the planet. What caused this war? Years of fighting have made this a distant memory, and people simple claim it was 'because they started shooting at us'.
Over the years prior to the war, two large superblocks effectively formed. A Totalitarian state, The Order, was slowly massing power and engulfing countries into its large state. Much like the Soviet Union in the past, they claimed these countries were a buffer against the Capitalist leaders who sought to destroy them. In the end, a great majority of Africa and southern Asia was controlled by this state. The Capitalist response was simple, do nothing. They were afraid that a war would shatter their political structure and effectively ruin them. By 2045, the situation was grim. While there was a global limit imposed on nuclear weapons (which was greatly ignored), the sides began building up their stockpiles until there were twice as many missiles than there were countries. Many people were skeptical that this would lead to a nuclear war.
In 2051, it did.
On the very first day alone, approximately 3.2 million were vapourised by the nuclear blasts across the planet and across the next few weeks, many millions more died from the after effects of the radiation. However, the worst had not even begun. The Order's forces began to invade many countries across the globe on a massive scale. Their commanders insisted that the war would be over by the end of the year, That was never to happen. There was a huge resistance, in which many soldiers died on both sides, a huge amount of resources were spent in sometimes pointless attacks.
In the end, the Totalitarian forces broke through the defences and forced a surrender. Their takeover of the Capitalist land lead to the conquest of almost the entire plant, with certain countries and continents, South America, Australia, Northern Europe, still left free. Their combined aim was to overthrow this regime by any means necessary, while they lacked military force, this group of nations, known as the Iron Fist, were determined to bring peace across the planet.
In 2068, a strange event happened. A meteorite crashed into the river Tiber in Italy. What scientists discovered next was incredible, they had found that the meteorite had brought an alien plant life, later known as tiberium, to Earth. Its possibilities seemed to be almost unlimited but there was, as there usually is, a downside. Tiberium was a very dominant plant, absorbing and draining vital minerals from the soil and even mutating existing flora and fauna into strange organisms. Two weeks later, there were traces of tiberium across the planet.
A huge boost in the world's ecomomy occured and, by 2069, the world was more prosperous than before the war began.
The Iron Fist took advantage of this and, with the increased resources, began attacks on The Order's bases and units throughout the world. Many uprisings followed next, The Order were not able to simply quell the attacks and riots, and a new war had begun.
Which side will you take, the strong and evil Totalitarian forces of The Order, or fight for the world's freedom with the Iron Fist? It's your choice, Commander.

Yes, no mod report this week. No I didn't say anything before hand. Thats what a week of exams, and then a car crash do to you... Anyways, we might have one next week, but probably not for the next few weeks.
We also have that new forum that Des0 has been on about below. While no-one likes it yet, it IS for a reason, which will be explained in due course. You'll have to trust us on this guys.
In other news, Clazzy has started up a new mod for Tiberian Sun that is called "Novus Ordo". It looks quite interesting so far, but don't take my word for it, go here for more info. |

Article - New Hosted Site! - Posted on 19 Jun 2004 by Des08tor |
|
|
We now have another hosted site: http://www.c3zone.co.uk.
For those people interested in Commandoes 3 and those who wish to learn how to mod it, this is your site.
Also later this week I will be planning to release Tiberian Alert V0.0.2 Alpha III to the Private Alpha Testers, as well as giving the public a few screenshots of the newest beta. Stay tuned for that....
Other than this, there isn't much going on this week at the network. Plans are being organised for a new huge project between Origin and CNC Guild, so most of our time is being diverted to planning that at the moment. Stay Tuned for this, as I said, it will be big and effect both networks! |

Article - The Finest Hour Demo Released! - Posted on 18 Jun 2004 by ArgCmdr |
|
|
Quoting our pal Mastermind2004:
[quote]
"To celebrate the first birthday of the Origin Network, The Finest Hour team has released a single player demo allowing you to play as the Germans. The single mission is set in a fortified German town under heavy siege by the American's using both aircraft and ground forces. You are ordered to hold your position at all costs. Good luck, and you can download the mission from The Finest Hour's site."

Thats the new designation for the group of mods i lead. If you dont like it, Mail Me and moan about why i decided Excalibur instead of Phoenix.
At 2021: Cataclysm, there is now more information on the Rebel Havoc Fighter, consisting in a new screenshot, similar to the one below. You can go to our Briefing Room for more of these.
+ At YR Argentina, there are 5 new files, two voxels and three SHPs. Its a gigantic update, with high quality files (possibly one of the wealthiest updates in the last months). Two demo boats by me, a civilian barracks by me, an animations pack (with 88! files) by Apollo, and an Infantry Pack by Shadowfx78.
Finally, Voxel Grand Prix III is being judged right now, results should be up tomorrow. So stay t00ned.

Well, to make up for that dissapointing result against France, I've decided to reward everyone out there with an, EARLY Monday Mod Report!!! WOOOH!
Head on over here for the Mod Report, and over here for the interview with Tiberian Alert producer Comrade Jerkov.
Also partially related to this item is that Tiberian Alert has released another internal Alpha test, which I must confess is starting to come together nicely!

Article - RA2: Allies Last Stand - Posted on 06 Jun 2004 by Des08tor |
|
|
The
Guild has a new hosted Mod. RA2: Allies Last Stand. This mod is a total
conversion for Unreal Tournament 2004. Hopefully this will start a new wave
of hosting for the Guild.
The site can be visited here.
This site is only temp, we are redesigning the site in HTML so save server
resources. It will have forums available on the Guild forums later today.
Network News
+ The Network will have a network bar up some time this week
+ Later Today we should have some Screenshots of Team Revenge's Mod Production:
D-Day, as it starts its 3rd year in production. The team failed to meet
that June 6th 2004 deadline to release the mod as the DTX and AI is taking
rather longer than expected.
+ We will have another New Hosted Site up later this week (The German Invasion
are moving to the Guild, they should be here soon)
+ C3 Zone is moving
to the Guild this week. We are just waiting for the DNS change before it
can happen.
+ Tiberian Alert's
site has been updated (finally) slightly. This week I will update it further
with full reports of the mods progress. I;m sure the public thought it was
dead. Well we got a surprise, it isn't! lol
+ Tiberian Alert V0.0.2 Beta II will be released to Private Beta Testers
this Friday please be ready for that.
I believe thats it for now. Hopefully D-Day screenies will be ready later
so we can mark the anniversery of the mod.
I would also like to say whilst on this subject, today is the 60th Anniversary
of D-Day. Please take a moment of spare time to think of the people who
fought on that day and throughout WWII, for our freedom. God bless their
souls, may they rest in peace. These people will never be forgotten... |

Article - Monday Mod Report - Posted on 03 Jun 2004 by Dancam |
|
|
I'd just like to apologise for the lack of a report for this week. Unfortunately I had a rather busy weekend, which I announced to the contributors a week beforehand, however, most of them did not write up any form of report until after the weekend had started.
Therefore, this coming Monday will be the full report from this Monday, and will then continue as normally as possible. |
