CNC Guild - Version 2 || Mod Review - True War 1.1 (RA2)

True War is so far the only attempt at making a mod that reflects realistic warfare. And by God they've had a darn good go at it. In the RA2 version, the Allies have been replaced by the United States (who come in two flavours; Temperate and Arctic) and Russia (who have the same two flavours for their own units) replaces the Soviets. They fight an alternate reality where the Cold War never ended, and turned bad in the present day.

The actual presentation of the mod is very good, with a nice selection of real-life pictures both on the main menu and on the loading screens. The radar and control interfaces are also nicely altered.
However, in the game lies the problem. The infantry have been reduced and become invisible to enemy radar. This is all well and good, but there's no need to make them almost totally invisible to the player. Infantry are also totally useless against anything but other infantry, due to the ludicrous range of vehicles and ships (cruise missiles seem to be able to traverse the whole map...), and their ineffectiveness. Some of the voxels are too big and/or lack detail, and the cameos lack names.Also, a few of the buildings haven't been finished yet.

The number of units is really unnecessary, with 3 variants of SAM gunner, and MBTs.

However, there is no way that all of these minor niggles and problems should put you off the most realistic combat simulation mod yet. Perhaps it's a bit too realistic for some. It's fun every now and then to have a blast. I await the finished product with interest...
