CNC Guild - Version 2 || Mod Review - Aftermath (RA2)

First impressions are that this modder didn't want his mod to be removed after use. He used a .bat (MSDOS batch file) installer. BIG NO-NO. CNCRAMaster, if you can, and ever should read this, please, please please make a XCC .exe version of it that doesn't f**k up your RA2 with loads of MISSING: strings as always happens with this mod. I refrain from playing it as it requires me to reinstall RA2 and YR to get rid of them. Which p***es me off.

To divert from slagging the installer off totally, this mod is actually rather good. It does well by trying to rekindle an old flame by bringing more of the old style of Red Alert into RA2, by making the Soviets the superior side, as opposed to balancing the opposing factions or nerfing the Soviets and making the Allies the stronger side. It definitely doesn't nerf the Allies, as they have some sweet new units (none spring to mind, due to the installer problem preventing me using it). However, the Soviet units are a lot stronger and more capable of dealing damage to anything and everything.

The other really good thing about this mod is its inclusion of Tiberian Sun. It just shows what logic is still present in RA2 from its older brother and what can be done with a bit of rescaling. I actually got this mod before I got TS, so it was especially good for me because I knew what to expect. The only things that don't appear is the carryall (because RA2 logic bugs it, however, if it wasn't a .bat file which got into everything, I could mod it so as it would work OK), the ability for planes to land anywhere on the map (they have to land on the airpad) and (correct me if I'm wrong; it's that .bat file again) the GDI power plant modular extension (even though the Component Tower manages it just fine).

I would LOVE to play this mod more. I would LOVE to give it higher marks (round about 7.5/10 i would love give it). But it's just that BLOODY MSDOS BITCH FILE! ARGH! Please get this sorted, and I'll review it again. "This mod makes no permanent changes to RA2. Yeah. My a*s it does.
