CNC Guild - Version 2 || Article - The Zero Hour Solution
The Zero Hour Solution, by Skywaters

As no doubt many of you are aware, the generals expansion pack Zero Hour has been released worldwide and after getting my hands on a copy and playing it for a few days and absolutely dominating the game I thought i'd sit down and right an article on the redemmer of Generals.

Now Zero Hour isn't the only saving grace for Generals. DeeZire's mod Pro:Gen has restored quite alot of Generals cut data and units that made the game what we were wanting. However a mod can only go so far and usually it's up to an expansion pack to save the day. Zero Hour is quite the fitting title for this expansion pack, it was either it does great or it's the Zero Hour for the Generals saga.

Zero Hour clearly re-defines Generals. It is obvious that the man in charge of it all Harvard Bonin was secretely on those forums scurrying for notes and quickly jotting them down listening to all the problems and trying to restore the community's faith in Generals so that they would buy Generals. Needless to say the hard work has paid off, with almost every person who has bought Zero Hour being very satisfied and extremely happy.

Zero Hour contains a horde of features including:

*An enhanced AI which really gives you a run for your money
*ALL (YES ALL!) of the Generals Multiplayer Test (Better none as the BETA) files. Many sites have these files listed, but ZH comes with them all to keep the modder in us happy (That's me).
*The Good old New Units, but not just any new units, units that are purely slated to change the way you fight. Not one uniut is all powerful and one that is just too weak to do anything.
*The Generals. Once thought lost to us, the Generals have returned in a different way. Now as a specific General you challenge other Generals in combat hoping to defeat them. They are also available for use in Skirmish Play.

That is a very, very slim listing of the features of Zero Hour. It would take me quite a while to go through them all because in all hoesty there's just so many. Zero Hour has redefined the way we play RTS games. No longer can you just tank rush. While it might work who knows when a sneak attack is going to pop out in the back of your base and utterly destroy you or if the Chinese have a fleet of Helixs nearby.

Each new feature of Zero Hour clearly shows us what Generals should have been, a sleek, beautiful, powerful RTS game that would challenge the way that we play games. The line has been drawn that clearly defines RTS gaming and what it should be. Zero Hour has indeed changed just how we play games and you have to wonder, if EA continues to make games this way what is in store for the future? What does the future hold for REAL TIME STRATEGY.
